Topic: Traffic Down |

I'm a bit perturbed about this - although perhaps I shouldn't be.
Traffice over the Nexus has rather fallen off over the last couple
of days, so that there are about 20 ongoing threads each day rather
than the infinitely more satisfying 40.
Other than a flame war, has anyone got any ideas.
And a note for moderators. Don't forget you can do all kind of
cool things (including making annoucements) at http://www.barbelith.com/ubb/cp.html - have a
wander around and try a couple of things out.

Hi folks I'm back....
I go away for a few weeks to concentrate on my sorely neglected
IRL self and come back to flaming, spamming and 80's retro (fade to)
grey. And someone's carelessly left their keys to the executive
washroom in my pigeonhole.
I really don't think a drop in traffic in any cause for concern,
in fact I'd see it as a positive sign. The extra flow has all been
made up of attitude, insult and shouting, shouting, whats all this
shouting? we'll have no shouting here...
I can just about handle 20 or so threads a day as catching up on
the Nexus babble was starting to eat into bigger and bigger chunks
of my day.
Is this really what you're aiming for with this Tom, the biggest
goddamn message board in cyberspace? I find it just makes it more
unapproachable. You've got a great forum going here, major kudos to
you, but I'd be happier with quality not quantity.

I second Twig's emotion; I was scrambling to keep up for a while
there.
I should also mention that I just logged onto the main page for
the first time in a while, and I quite like the new look there, too.
I've developed this absurd love for that shade of orange around the
photos since moving out of Miami Beach.
the pop up will take some getting used to, but will be quite
convenient at work.
Things you should know: right now, I'm on Netscape and the right
hand scroll bar is half cut off. I can still use it, but it's
distracting.

I can't keep up as it is. I'd help with new threads but no one ever
replies to my threads. In fact, once I post in an already existing
thread, it seems to die a sudden death. That's me, thread killer.
Maybe you should ban me or something.

Oops, killed another thread. I must stop posting before this place
is a ghost town.

I would reply to your threads Sandfarmer, but I've nver got anything
to say (not that that makes any fucking difference to anything of
course). Oh, and I think you'll probably find that my inane
jabberings have killed more threads than is strictly healthy.

Damnit. Now I realize that though I did not kill this poor thread, I
have inadvertenly changed the topic. Curse these fowl typing
fingers.

I am less worried about the traffic thing now. I basically felt
concerned that the traffic would drop off completely when the
Invisibles ended - leaving me with an empty and rather embarrassing
forum.
And while I note that people accessing the site has dropped down
to about 200 a day, I am delighted and comfortable to see that
threads being posted to is now stabilising around the mid-thirties
(weekends excepted).
I am more than comfortable with this figure - it keeps things ...
manageable.

I think this place is doing great. It gets more posts than most
forums in the Vertigo section of D.C.'s UBB.

Just to deviate from topic, has anyone noticed how we really are
starting to talk about each other behind each other's backs back
here? Hee!

What a bunch of elitists we've become.
Does that mean we get to come up with hazing rites for the poor
initiates? ;-)

Who wants to escape? I brought my own paddle!
Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "make friends with them
until they beg for mercy"...

Oh boy... I am SO glad none of the people I've recruited have
made it to 100 posts yet... ;-)
