Ok folks, it's late, you've got the flat to yourself, there's a bottle of wine in the fridge and you've invited that special person over for a quiet night in.

What do you stick on the stereo that's guaranteed to get you into their pants?

Let them choose.

You have to listen to odd shit that way, but its part of giving them some control, and its going to be music that pushes their envelope.

+ I always choose innapropriate stuff, like my favourite punk classics

Bizarrely, The Sensual World by Kate Bush. But only the title track will work, so you're gonna have to be a pretty fast mover.

If it's raining, "Brewing it Up With Billy Bragg". I have wistful memories over that one.
My girlfriend had this thing for Mazzy Star. Late at night, yeah, that was the thing.

Atari Teenage Riot: 60 second wipeout.
Works a treat. Especially if you sing along. Or maybe it doesnt. Hell , i dunno. The Ramones. They've got a song for every occasion.

And the title of this thread is from Sexxlaws by Beck. Just to show off my cleverness.

hmm, maybe some brian eno or Bjork.
Delerium's album Semantic Spaces would serve well, too.

I find that a low bass tone, like a tape of James Earl Jones humming, usually helps the Rohypnol kick in.
Then I put on something by the Wurzels.

LOL@ fairweather nihilist. (Im getting into this internet lark!)
I actually saw the wurzels last year.
Not as depressing as one might think.
They've mutated into a sort of singalong punk band / carryon style comedy act.

"Debra" by Beck, naturally...

What woman wouldn't swoon for "Lady, step into my Hyundai"?

Actually , thats the first Beck song Ive ever disliked. Where did he learn to shreik like that?
I like the rest of the album though.

"I'll do your loundry, massage your soul
I'll turn you over to the highway patrol"

Ganesha: You've got to love a bunch of cornish stereotypes who've flogged one joke for 30 years and recorded an album "dedicated to the smell of cow shit."
right?

70sman: sorry, it was just the notional (and somewhat oxymoronic) hybrid of 'singalong punk' and Carry-On 'humour' (which, failed Morrissey fan that I am, I never found funny in the first place) that struck me as nightmarish. The Wurzels I could take or leave, really.

My current favorite disc has to be the new Depth Charge album, Lust.

That or the Fight Club soundtrack.

I have to say I've recently been seduced by the Fun Loving Criminals' 'Mimosa'. That and the soundtrack to The Sopranos. Hmmm...I feel a 'fictional American gangster' phase coming on...

70sman, don't you like Prince at all?

Beck performed "Debra" live at the VH1 fashion music awards or whatever that was. It was great. He slammed the mic down and begged to his fictional woman...'cause he's a full grown man, but he's not afraid to cry.

The VH1 thingee is worth watching, if only to see Andy Dick wearing a huge stuffed Pikachu on his head, and to see Lil' Kim dressed like an extra from the Eyes Wide Shut orgy sequence.

Andy Dick is always fucking hilarious when he's on awards shows. I remember 2 years ago when he did a Backstreet Boys parody with Ben Stiller when the latter hosted the Video Music Awards. Andy Dick had a metal claw for a hand, and was raking it across his chest like a Backstreet Boy. In the rain. priceless.
