Damn, does my song suck that bad or do none of you have an MP3
player? The song I'm talking about is "Little Blue Smoke".

I went to the page, but unfortunately it was at work. No music.
Thanks for bumping the message back up.
Are you that long haired hippy?

Yes I am the long haired one but I am very un-hippy. I used to be a
big hippy in college but then I got focused and got goals. I'm
letting my hair grow until someone gives me one good reason to cut
it. I'll probably be a hippy again when I retire (or drop out and
disappear).
As far as the name goes, it comes from something Jimi Hendrix
said in Isle of Whight film. Never heard of the film you are talking
about but I will keep and eye out for it. Check out the MP3's if you
get a chance. What is on there now are just acoustic songs I did
myself but we should have two very heavy full band studio songs on
there by Dec. 15. Cheers.

long hair = low maintenance. It's as simple as that.

My school friend Hairy and I used to mock make fun of each other's
hair all the time. We both had long hair, then both shaved our heads
together, then he stayed short while I go back and forth.
To this day I like calling people hippies to see what they
do. Well, except bikers, because I don't want to get keelhauled
behind a noisy old Harley. I'm downloading ska off MP3.com right
now, but you're next on the list.

I downloaded "Little Blue Smoke" the other night. I liked the music,
but the vocals really fucked with my ears. Like they were off by a
fraction of a second. Now if that was the intended effect (which is
sorta cool) then more power to ya. But really, pay no attention
to me--I'm an arrhythmic clod who listens to a lot of Death
Metal. For the most part, I liked the tune. Keep up the good
work.

Thanks Qlithshifter. There are two lead vocal tracks on LBS that are
recorded out of phase and out of time with each other for a spacy
effect but MP3 encoding does not handle a lot of tricks like that
very well so it kind of looses the effect and just sounds plain
weird through computer speakers. Oh well, that's the price we pay
for free and or stolen technology.

Oh, and "fucking with your ears" was the intended effect.

I liked the Arabic guitar. What's the back masking in the
beginning? Or would that be spoiling the surprise....

oh yeah you got to check out the wild angels, the greatest biler
movie of all time, where Peter Fonda gives the greatest anti
authoritan rant ever, after which the bikers riot and destroy a
church.
Oh but anyways just checked out your track pretty neat-thats the
jimi hendrix movie where they do that satanic incantation right?
pretty sweet

grant-The backwards voices are bits and peices of conversations
between myself and freinds while on mushrooms. The song itself is
based on Carlos Casteneda's "Teachings of Don Juan". The "arabic"
sounding guitar is actualy a dulcimer. A dulcimer is a simple
Appalachian mountain flok instrument that has a similar twangy sound
to a sitar. The electric guitar parts sound kind of eastern because
I was playing in the mixolydian mode which has an eastern feel.
number nun-You are probably thinking of the Hendrix film "Rainbow
Bridge"
Wild Angels-I actually think I did see a bit of that Peter Fonda
flick on TV the other day. I will have to rent it.

A dulcimer? Cool!
I've seen em around, but never heard 'em in a rock context.
I like fiddling with pencil-erasers on my guitar to get that
hammered dulcimer sound, but just as a fun thing, never for anything
useful.
Mixolydian. Well, now I know how that one sounds.
